I’m a sucker for romance movies. I’m also a sap. So that combination means when I see these types of movies, I must have tissue on hand because I already know the tears will be flowing. One of my favorite movies is the Notebook and EVERY time I watch it I cry. EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Lol.
Enter Beyond the Lights. From the moment I saw the trailer, I knew I had to see it. Apparently the trailer deterred some from going but like I said I’m a sucker for romance movies. Plus it had two black actors as the lead, one of them I’ve dubbed as the Denzel of our generation. I had to see it. Well let me tell you it didn’t disappoint. I’ve seen it twice and wouldn’t mind seeing it again. And yes I cried both times. It took me seeing it two times to be able to write about. The first time I had to digest the marvelous work I watched and the second time I knew I had to write about it. The cinematography, music, acting was just SUPERB! After all, it was directed and written by Gina Prince-Bythewood, director and writer of Love and Basketball.
